Fun Food Fridays: Citrus Spice Drink

When I’m camping, no matter the time of year, I always love to have something hot to drink. My morning favorite is, of course, my Earl Grey Tea. But in the evening, sometimes I want something a bit different!

Perfect drink for around the campfire.

This is a dry drink mix that can be made up at home and then added to hot water or hot tea in camp.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Tang powder
  • 1 ½ cups lemonade powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves

Sweeten to taste!

Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. Add 2-3 rounded teaspoons directly to a mug of hot water OR to a mug of hot tea. I think it tastes best in unflavored black tea (as opposed to green tea).  Sweeten to taste.

Years ago, we drank this, and called it (for some reason) “Russian Tea”. Never heard of mixing it w/b lack tea. Going to have to try that ! Thanks, and thanks for the website..

  • Kim:

Fred – Russian tea, huh? My friend called it Wassail (or something like that). But in looking on line, it DOES look like Russian tea. Wonder why? I didn’t drink anything like it when I was in Russia for a month!

  • Pat:

I am not a tea lover. I will try this mixing it with apple juice. I think my kids would love it.
